Vane’s previous releases hinted at her love for the blues but leaned more toward country and Americana. However, Hear My Call sees her shifting away from those sounds and diving deeply into her blues influences. “Shake It Babe” is an all-out blues rocker that puts Vane’s vocals and her top-tier slide guitar skills on full display. More than that, the track gives listeners a look at her latest artistic evolution as well as her fearless pursuit of new creative depths.
“I had the pleasure of co-writing this song with Mike Harris (Old Crow Medicine Show),” Vane said of the song. “I brought him this idea that I wanted to flesh out in the style of Jessie Mae Hemphill, and he helped me create this raucous, empowered hill country tune. There’s a sense of confidence in Jessie Mae’s music that I wanted to channel, as well as the sometimes not-so-subtle innuendos in blues music at large that can be so fun,” she explained.

Vane will see many firsts during the forthcoming album cycle. For instance, she’ll be traveling to Scandinavia for the first time. She’ll play five shows in Sweden and one in Norway before returning to the United States for a string of dates that will keep her on the road until this summer.
