3 Times Musicians Absolutely Trolled Reporters

Journalists can be annoying, and we can attest to that firsthand. However, we like to think our persistence amounts to something for the masses. Well, we might think that, but there have been a plethora of times where musicians have disagreed and vocalized their opinions about the media. Frankly, when it happens, it’s absolutely hilarious. We’re just lucky it hasn’t happened to us yet.

The relationship between a musician and a journalist can take on a variety of forms. This list will depict the comedic sarcasm embedded in a couple of fairly famous ones. You’ve surely seen interview clips of musicians trolling reporters, and here are three of the best!

Bob Dylan’s 1965 San Franciso Press Conference

In music journalism, Bob Dylan’s press conference is likely the most famous clip depicting a musician completely toying with the media. Dylan has always walked to the beat of his own drum, and that image of his has been partially drafted thanks to this comedic clip.

The interview is lengthy and includes a lot of hilariously blunt and dry moments. Though, in short, Dylan rarely keeps a straight face and attacks the journalistic ethics of the times. Notably, in the clip, poet Allen Ginsberg asks a poignant question to which Dylan gives a very poignant, clever, and honest answer.

The Beatles Return to The United Kingdom

Following their first US tour, The Beatles arrived back in the UK and sat down for a press conference to rehash their experience. However, that is not what happened, as The Beatles’ boyish charm bled through and led the conversation down some peculiar rabbit holes.

In the video, it is very clear that the four-headed monster is not taking a single question seriously, as they are laughing, making animated movements, and giving reporters the most long-winded and convoluted answers. The Beatles and The Beatles alone are the only band who could get away with such antics, and they did it far more than this one time.

Ozzy Osbourne’s Night Flight Interview

Unlike Bob Dylan and The Beatles, Ozzy Osbourne trolls reporters not necessarily with his wit, but with his hilarious digressions and unintelligible sentences. In this particular interview, Osbourne is clearly intoxicated and completely throws the reporter conducting the interview for a loop.

At one point in the interview, Osbourne begins to rant about barbers, and throughout the entirety of the interview, the Black Sabbath lead singer just throws curveball answers to fairly straightforward questions. Cleary, Ozzy Osbourne had a great time during this interview, and it made for a great episode of Night Flight.
