Ah, family. We didn’t pick them and we might not like them all of the time, but we surely do love them. Thanks to the ebb and flow family often entails, most people have a bond with their siblings and/or parents. That bond is not only conducive to a great rapport, but also to teamwork. Well, for some, that is.

Families that do work well together are often unnoticed, but when a group of family members decides to start a band and take over the music industry, they are usually noticed. That being said, here are three family bands whose familial fusion helped them become staple names in the music industry. And, no, The Jackson 5 and Beach Boys will not be on this list.
Kings Of Leon
Comprised of brothers Caleb, Nathan, Jared, and their cousin Matthew Followill, Kings of Leon dominated the industry in the early 2000s. The band still tours and releases music on a frequent basis. So, it seems the fame failed in breaking up their strong family ties and chemistry, a chemistry that resulted in a lot of success.
In their heyday, Kings of Leon scored two no. 1 singles. Their most notable track, “Use Somebody”, peaked at no. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the band two Grammy awards in 2009. Awards and accolades aside, their tracks are staples on any early 2000s playlist.
The Avett Brothers
Scott and Seth Avett of the Avett Brothers have been gracing the masses with classic country, bluegrass, and folk tunes since 2000. Hailing from Concord, North Carolina, Scott and Seth have become an integral part of the folk and Americana scene, and scored major success within the genre.
Specifically, the brothers have earned three Grammy nominations and four Americana Music awards. They even created their own Broadway musical. Their most notable tracks include “No Hard Feelings”, “Ain’t No Man”, and “Murder In The City”. Consequently, they’re one of the most popular family bands in the realm of country and folk music.
Sly And The Family Stone
Even though not every member of this band was family, the three main players were indeed related. Featuring Sly and his siblings, Freddie and Rose Stone, the R&B soul group served the masses for nearly 20 years with their instant classics.
Active between 1966 and 1983, Sly and The Family Stone scored three no. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Those three hits were “Everyday People”, “Thank You (Falletinme Be Mice Elf Again)”, and “Family Affair”. Additionally, this family band won a Grammy and received an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
