Summer is right around the corner, so one should anticipate the release of new country music tailored to the season. Even though there are plenty of songs to come, there is one already out that’s bringing the heat… and that is Restless Road’s new single, “Goin’ Out Like That“.

Released on March 14, Restless Road’s new single is bound to become a staple for summer nights across the country. It’s a song about romance and heartbreak and getting back up on the horse when it is all said and done. However, it is specifically crafted for a certain type of person, a person most of us have been, and a person many more will be.
Regarding their new single “Goin’ Out Like That”, Restless Road sat down with American Songwriter and divulged the metamorphosis of their summer break-up anthem. The inspiration behind the song is unique, but the message is one we’ve all heard before and can’t hear enough.
How a Sibling Break-Up Inspired Restless Road’s Single
“Goin’ Out Like That” was inspired by a wholesomely sentimental thought Zach Beeken had about his little sister.
“I have two little sisters and one of them, she’s in college, and she had just broken up with her boyfriend,” said Beeken of the song’s inspiration. “She was feeling really down, and so I kind of had this idea of writing a song for my sister.”
That being said, Beekan wanted to create a song that his sister could listen to “where she could put it on and feel like she could get back to herself.” Beeken also wanted to write a song that his sister could enjoy and “go out with her friends, have a good time, and forget about this stupid guy.”
With a direction in mind, Beeken, Colton Pack, and Garrett Nichols knew what song they were going to write. To Beeken, that song would be “a heartbreak anthem for the ladies” as well as a “hot girl summer anthem.”
A Jubuliant Heartbreak Anthem
Restless Road’s single doesn’t have negative energy or a thematic tendency to dwell on the past. Rather, it is a tune about moving on and celebrating the single lifestyle. In accordance with that message, Nichols humorously described the song as “like little white boots, newly [sic] single attitude.”
With all that in mind, the trio hopes to lift some spirits when they perform “Goin’ Out Like That” live.
“When we play our live show, I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun, a lot of high energy,” Beeken continued. “We wanted it to be like when the chorus came in. You could just do this.”
