We’re excited to announce the official lineup for our 2015 Shindig in Austin, hosted in conjunction with Billy Reid and Third Man Records. We’ve pulled together some of our favorite acts for a day of music, food and drinks at Weather Up on March 18. Be sure to RSVP to the party here.
11:30 a.m. La Luz – Seattle quartet La Luz makes sparkling surf-rock full of jangling guitars and vocal harmonies. If you catch their set, be prepared to dance.
12 p.m. Steve Gunn – Steve Gunn most recently made his name as a guitarist for Kurt Vile’s backing band the Violators. His most recent solo album Way Out Weather, though, proves he belongs in the spotlight.
12:50 p.m. Bully – Nashville’s Bully has made some serious waves with their grunge-infused indie pop. Check out their debut single “Milkman” and get ready to rock at the Shindig.
1:40 p.m. Gill Landry – Best known for his work with Old Crow Medicine Show, Gill Landry just released his third solo album, a self-titled collection that sounds little like his work with the band that brought you “Wagon Wheel.” There may not bee too much banjo in this set, but you can definitely expect some great songwriting.
2:30 p.m. Hurray For The Riff Raff – Over the last couple of years, Alynda Lee Segarra and Hurray For The Riff Raff have redefined Americana music with their beautifully written, politically charged songs. Catch their set for cuts from their recent album Small Town Heroes, including our number one song of 2014, “The Body Electric.”
3:20 p.m. Olivia Jean – Third Man Records artist Olivia Jean’s retro-tinged, horror-inspired noir rock is unlike much else out there. She’s the perfect fit for Jack White and Elvira fans alike.
4:20 p.m. Broncho – Oklahoma’s Broncho exploded onto the indie rock scene late last year thanks to the strength of songs like “Class Historian” off their sophomore album Just Enough Hip to Be Woman. Catch these guys for a high-energy set that should wake you from your afternoon stupor.
5:20 p.m. Natalie Prass – One of 2015’s biggest breakout stars, Richmond-by-way-of-Nashville singer/songwriter Natalie Prass has earned heaps of accolades for her recently released self-titled debut album. Don’t miss her set, which will be as influenced by Motown as it is Janet Jackson.
6:25 p.m. Laura Marling – British singer/songwriter Laura Marling has long been a critical favorite thanks to her confessional lyrics and striking vocals. Her most recent album Short Movie is also her best, and we’re excited to have her close out the day.
