Beyoncé Halts Houston Show After Terrifying Tech Malfunction Left Her Dangling Over Crowd

Beyoncé’s latest career reinvention isn’t really a reinvention at all. Growing up steeped in rodeo culture, the 35-time Grammy Award winner leaned into her Texas roots on her eighth studio album Cowboy Carter. And with every Queen Bey album comes an equally spectacular tour. Pulling out all the stops for her hometown show at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, the “Texas Hold ‘Em” singer had to abruptly halt Saturday’s (June 28) concert after a near-disastrous prop malfunction.

Beyoncé Thanks Fans For Their Patience After Pausing Hometown Show

Performing her single “16 CARRIAGES,” Beyoncé glided through the air atop a red convertible suspended above the crowd at NRG Stadium. Then things began to go sideways—literally.

“Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop,” the pop diva, 43, said as the car tilted dangerously mid-air.

Abruptly, the music cut off. The crowd then begins cheering for Beyoncé, still dangling hundreds of feet above them.

“Thank y’all for your patience,” said the unruffled diva as crews worked to bring her down to earth.

Eventually, she is safely on the ground again. A clip posted to social media shows the “Break My Soul” singer calmly address the near-catastrophe.

“If ever I fall, I know y’all would catch me,” she said. And judging from the crowd’s deafening cheers, she wasn’t wrong.

“YES WE WOULD,” declared one fan on X/Twitter.

That Wasn’t the First ‘Cowboy Carter’ Mishap

As one of the highest-grossing live acts of all time, Beyoncé is no doubt accustomed to rolling with the punches onstage. That’s exactly what she did following a wardrobe malfunction earlier this month.

During June 5’s Cowboy Carter stop at London’s Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the Golden Globe nominee was performing “I’m That Girl” off her 2022 album Renaissance when her silver fringe chaps unexpectedly slipped off.

Without missing “a step or a note,” the seemingly unfazed pop star simply knelt down and picked them back up. One of her dancers came over to help her adjust the chaps, and then it was back to business.
