Cody Jinks Releases a Rocking Country Cover of the AC/DC Classic “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)”

Cody Jinks has been a busy man over the last few months. Last December, he released Cody Jinks Sings Lefty Frizzell, a tribute to one of country music’s great singer/songwriters. He also teamed up with Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton for “Brother” from the axe slinger’s upcoming solo album. The single dropped last week. Today (February 14), Jinks is back with a cover of the AC/DC classic “It’s a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock ‘N’ Roll)” check out the new track below.

Fans who have attended one of Jinks’ recent shows will be familiar with his cover of the AC/DC classic. He has been working it into his setlists. Additionally, a few videos of him playing the song live are floating around the internet. One even features Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne, Black Label Society) on guitar. Today, fans finally have a version of the song they can spin any time they want.

“’It’s a Long Way to the Top’ rings true for me now more than ever,” Jinks said of the song. “We’re talking about a song that transcends time and genre, a song about this crazy business. Plus, it’s fun to play,” he added.

Cody Jinks Is “Basically Done” with His Next Album

It has been a little over two months since Cody Jinks released his tribute to Lefty Frizzell and a little less than a year since he released Change the Game. However, he isn’t slowing down or resting on his laurels. Earlier this week, he took to social media to inform fans that new music is coming.

“I wanted to let you guys know that on this Monday, February 10, almost all of the music is in the can for what will be our upcoming record to be released later this year,” Jinks said in the video. “We’re basically done recording this record. So, we begin the mixing and mastering process, the artwork, all the things that take months and months and months to do,” he added. “Wanted to let you know It’s going to be badass. I’m just going to say it. It’s badass,” he said of the new project.
