Back in February, Cody Johnson delighted his Nashville crowds by bringing Luke Combs out to perform Combs’ hit “Beer Never Broke My Heart” during his two-night stop in Music City. Fans of both country stars were thrilled by the surprise. They were also left wondering if a collaboration could be coming in the future.

Flash-forward to last week, and Cody Johnson hinted at an official collab with Luke Combs as he spoke to Audacy about work on his new album. “I’m going in this year to go record a new album and there’s a certain song that I’m pretty certain … we’re kind of playing with it,” he said when asked about Combs. “We’re going back and forth. But I mean, it could be in the works. I can neither confirm nor deny.”
Johnson is following up his Leather Deluxe Edition, which added 13 new songs to his CMA-nominated album. No news on when the new album will officially be announced, but fans are chomping at the bit for new music and potential collaborations.
Cody Johnson’s Two-Night Nashville Tour Stop Featured Incredible Guests
During those February tour dates in Nashville, Cody Johnson brought out a star-studded parade of guests. Luke Combs joined him, of course, where the two shotgunned beers before performing “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” In a fan-captured video of the moment, the crows erupted into cheers as the country stars downed their beers.
In addition to Combs, Carrie Underwood joined Johnson in Nashville. The two have performed together in the past, such as at the CMA Awards last year where they sang their recent duet “I’m Gonna Love You.” Underwood posted photos from the show on social media, writing, “Fun with friends! ‘Twas a pleasure joining [Cody Johnson] on stage Saturday night at [Bridgestone Arena]! He’s the real deal, folks! Such a great show and what a LOUD crowd!”
Johnson took a moment to address the impressive crowd during the show as well. “I want you to know that there was a time when I thought this dream wouldn’t happen,” he said, adding “that’s why I’m leaving it all here on the stage.”
