Country Music Star Sustains Broken Rib in “Extremely Hard Fall,” Reschedules Nashville Gig

Rolling up on the country music scene with 2013’s Same Trailer Different Park, Kacey Musgraves has showed serious staying power. The Golden, Texas-born artist, 36, released her sixth studio album, Deeper Well, last year, nabbing another Grammy Award for Best Country Song thanks to “The Architect.” Recently, Musgraves sustained a serious injury that will unfortunately prevent her from a scheduled performance in Nashville this weekend.

Kacey Musgraves Is “Thankful I Didn’t Smack My Head”

Taking to her Instagram Stories Friday (June 20), Kacey Musgraves shared an X-ray of her torso. “Sooo, I’m in Mexico with a f—ing broken rib,” the “High Horse” singer began.

She explained, “Wednesday night it was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see. Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very hard on my back left ribcage and broke rib number six.”

Unfortunately, Musgraves said, the injury means she must postpone Sunday’s (June 22) performance during a live taping of the Sing for Science podcast in Nashville. The seven-time CMA Award winnerhas rescheduled the performance for Sept. 18. While ticket holders have 30 days to get a refund, their original tickets are still valid for the new date.

“This s— is no joke. I’m in a lot of pain and doing ANYTHING is extremely difficult,” Kacey Musgraves wrote. She added that there was “no physical way” for her to board a plane and fly to Nashville for the performance at Ryman Auditorium.

“I am extremely bummed to have to reschedule as I have been looking forward to this for months,” she wrote. “But there is literally no other option. I’m so sorry for the inconvenience.”

Musgraves Reschedules Ryman Event

At the newly rescheduled event, Kacey Musgraves will join world-renowned fungi expert Paul Stamets at the Ryman Auditorium.

“Together, they’ll delve into the fascinating world of psilocybin, exploring what gives ‘magic mushrooms’ their magic,” according to the Ryman’s website.

Previously, Musgraves has spoken about how her experiences with “magic mushrooms” have inspired her music, specifically 2021’s star-crossed.

“I’m not here to be any kind of advocate on that. I just know what kind of works with me, and I would never push anyone to do anything that they’re not comfortable with,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. “But no, it’s incredible though.”
