Ella Langley Was “Stunned” When This Country Music Queen Already Knew Her Name

Rising country star Ella Langley recently celebrated one year of viral success with her Riley Green duet “You Look Like You Love Me.” The Hope Hull, Alabama-born artist, 26, has become someone to watch with her debut album Hungover and five ACM trophies, including New Female Artist of the Year. Langley has spoken frankly about the surreality of her success, recently detailing her meeting with one of the genre’s biggest names.

Ella Langley Couldn’t Let This Country Star Keep Walking

One of the best-selling country artists in history, Reba McEntire has also hosted the ACM Awards a record-breaking 18 times. Last month’s ceremony was a landmark night for Ella Langley, who performed twice and brought home five trophies, the most of any artist.

In addition to performing alongside one of her idols, Miranda Lambert, the “Weren’t For the Wind” singer also had the opportunity to meet Queen Reba. Speaking with Taste of Country Nights, Langley giggled recalling the moments leading up to her meeting with the “Fancy” singer, 70.

“[My team] leaned over to me and said, ‘Prepare yourself. It’s Reba,’” she said. “I couldn’t move anymore, and she walked right past me. And I just looked at her and I was gonna let her keep walking, but I couldn’t.”

Honestly, relatable. Already starstruck, Langley called out, “Reba, Reba — uh, Miss Reba!’” And she was shocked when the 19-time ACM Award winner turned and said her full name.

“She knew who I was before I could introduce myself, and I was just stunned,” Langley said. “All I could get out was, ‘I love you, I love you.’”

“That was a cool moment,” she said in what was perhaps an understatement. “That was nuts.”

New Music Is On the Way

Still riding the wave of success from her debut album Hungover, Ella Langley recently took to social media to tease new music. The five-time ACM Award winner shared a snippet of an unreleased love ballad seemingly titled “I’ve Never Met Anyone Like You.”

On Instagram, fans weighed in. “Holy vocals !!!!!” one user wrote. “Sang.”

Emmy Russell, American Idol finalist and granddaughter of Loretta Lynn, also gave it her stamp of approval. “One of my fave voices… so great Ella,” she wrote.
