Joey Martin Feek Died From Cervical Cancer

Every year on March 4, Rory Feek heads to his late wife’s grave along with Indiana, their 11-year-old daughter. Taking to social media Tuesday, the “Gentleman” singer shared a close-up of the daffodil bouquet they placed on Joey’s wooden cross.

“It’s been nine years today that Joey’s been gone,” wrote Feek, 59. “Every March at this exact time the daffodils begin blooming here on the farm – just in time for Indiana to pick and bring to her Mama’s cross, as we think of and remember her…”

One Instagram user remarked, “Isn’t that a God moment,” in reference to the daffodils.

Initially diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014, Joey Martin Feek was declared cancer-free that year following treatment and surgery. Sadly, the cancer would return the next year, this time spreading to her colon.

In October 2015, Rory Feek announced in a blog post that his wife’s cancer was terminal and that she would no long receive treatment. She entered hospice care the next month, passing four months later on March 4, 2016.

Rory Feek Has Remarried

Just 2 years old when her mom died, Indiana helped dad Rory Feek find love again eight years later.

Last July, Feek walked down the aisle again with his partner and daughter’s teacher, Rebecca. The “One Angel” singer revealed in a blog post that Indiana had given the relationship her blessing.

“I asked Indy, and she told me that she said, ‘Ms. Rebecca, I think you should marry Papa,’ ” he wrote. “And then Indy looked at me and said, ‘And I told Miss Rebecca that my Mama’s been gone a long time. And if she marries you, maybe she could be my new mother…’ As I wiped away some tears, I told her I thought that was a wonderful idea.”
