Song Premiere: Beth Thornley feat. Glen Phillips, “Last To Fall”

The Artist:
 Beth Thornley, a  Los Angeles-based pop singer/songwriter.
The Song: “Last To Fall,” a track off of Thornley’s upcoming record Septagon, out April 8.
Fun Fact: Thornley co-wrote the song with Toad The Wet Sprocket’s Glen Phillips, who also provides backing vocals.
Songwriter Says: “Glen and I met through the Durango Songwriters Expo held in Santa Barbara, CA,” says Thornley. “Glen is often at the conference as a panelist, advisor and performer.  I had attended the event a few times and had gotten to know a few people.  Jim Attebery, who runs the event, set Glen and me up to co-write. In the couple of hours Glen and I spent together, we decided what the song would be about and wrote the first verse (which to this day hasn’t changed).  After that, we passed our ideas back and forth via mp3s.  When I got ready to record, I laid down my tracks and sent it to Glen for him to add his backing vocals; all via the internet.  I was super excited about the song, about meeting Glen (I had been a big fan of Toad), but then the icing on the cake — Toad decided to also record a version of the song.  They made it a bonus track (digital download only) on their recent album New Constellation.
