Jaelen and Hailey Impress
The country stars’ performance was undoubtedly a high-point of the night’s episode. “That’s some damn country music,” a “giddy” Kelsea exclaimed afterwards. She lost some of that excitement when it came time to make a choice, though. Kelsea wound up choosing Jaelen as the winner, but didn’t let Hailey get away. The coach used her one and only save to keep Hailey on her team.
Kelsea's "Country Love Fest"
Jaelen Johnston and Hailey Wright wowed Kelsea and her team’s advisor, Little Big Town, with their performance of Brooks and Dunn’s “Neon Moon.” Jaelen admitted he had his “work cut out” for him, while Hailey worried over her lack of duet experience. Nevertheless, Kelsea told them both, “You’re making country music proud.” So much so that the rehearsal ended with a singalong between Jaelen, Hailey, Kelsea, and Little Big Town.
Team Legend's Soulful Battle
John paired the “soulful” Antonio Ramsey and BD.ii together to sing Musiq Soulchild’s “Just Friends (Sunny)” hoping they’d “embrace the spirit” of the song. They did just that during the battle, leading to a hard choice for their coach. John did eventually make a decision, choosing BD.ii as the winner.
More Unaired Battles
The Voice next showed bits of two unaired Team Bublé. Naomi Soleil and Kameron Jason performed Daryl Hall & John Oates’ “You Make My Dreams (Come True),” with the latter singer walking away victorious. Michael said he picked Kameron for his “potential” and pitch control, noting that he has the “whole package.” Carlos Santiago and Aaron Rizzo then battled it out to John Mayer’s “Gravity,” with the former being named the winner.
Barry Lives On!
After Barry lost his battle to Kaiya, Kelsea pressed her button to steal him. However, Michael also pressed his button to save Barry, and made a pitch to keep the singer on his team. Barry decided to stick with what he knows and stay on Team Bublé.
Michael Names Kaiya the Winner
The duo performed Solomon Burke’s “Cry to Me” and got nothing but praise from the coaches. Michael had a tough choice to make, but ultimately selected Kaiya as the winner.
Barry Jean Fontenot and Kaiya Hamilton Wow During Rehearsals
Team Bublé’s Barry Jean Fontenot and Kaiya Hamilton brought it during rehearsals. Michael praised Barry for “great” voice that’s both smooth and full of grit, while his team’s advisor, Cynthia Erivo, admitted that she has a “sweet spot” for Kaiya and her “luscious” voice.
Kelsea Makes a Heartbreaking Choice
Kelsea didn’t make it easy for herself when she paired Brook and Alanna together. After much back-and-forth, though, Kelsea selected Alanna as the winner because she felt that she could “better support” her as the show continues.
Brook Wood and Alanna Lynise Gush Over Each Other
After Team Kelsea’s Brook Wood and Alanna Lynise were paired together, the women made no secret of their love for each other. Alanna praised the emotion in Brook’s voice, while Brook gushed over Alanna’s tone and control. The two were equally excited about the song their coach picked for them, Miley Cyrus’ “Angels Like You.”
One Battle We Didn't See
In a quick look at one battle viewers didn’t see in full, Team Adam’s Grace Miller Moody bested Tori Templet when they performed Kings of Leon’s “Use Somebody.”
Adam Chooses Lucia as the Winner
After an unforgettable performance, which Kelsea called “beautiful,” Adam selected Lucia as the winner of the battle.
Hayden Grove and Lucia Flores-Wiseman Win Over Kate Hudson
While rehearsing for their performance of Frank Sinatra’s “My Funny Valentine,” Hayden Grove and Lucia Flores-Wiseman won over their coach, Adam, and his team’s advisor, Kate Hudson. The actress said she was a “sucker” for a crooner like Hayden, while Adam praised Lucia’s unique voice and style.
Ari Gets Stolen!
Both Adam and Kelsea pushed their buttons to save Ari from elimination. The Maroon 5 frontman said “the sky is the limit” for Ari, while the country singer told Ari that she wanted to help her grow and develop as an artist. Ari decided to join Team Adam as she continues her journey on The Voice.
John Picks Bryson as the Winner
Bryson and Ari wowed with their performance of Muni Long’s “Made for Me,” earning standing ovations from all four coaches. Adam Levine called Bryson “spectacular” and praised Ari’s stage presence. Kelsea Ballerini was moved over the pair’s “big, bold voices,” while Michael Bublé called them both “geniuses.” Ultimately, John chose Bryson as the winner.
Bryson Battle Missed Out on a Big Chance to Be on 'The Voice'
While preparing for his Battle Round performance with Ari Camille, Team Legend’s Bryson Battle revealed that he was supposed to play Jesus in his school’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar. He had to give up that role in order to appear on The Voice. In doing so, he had a chance to learn from John Legend and his team’s advisor, Coco Jones, the former of whom previously starred as Jesus in the musical.
