“This Is Not a Travis Scott Concert”: Cody Johnson Halts San Antonio Show as Brawl Breaks Out During “God Bless America”

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Cody Johnson took the stage at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas. The show was Johnson’s second night at the venue following a sold-out show that transpired the night before on Friday, June 20, 2025. Though, unlike the previous show, Johnson’s second night at the venue did not go as smoothly, given that a fight broke out roughly three hours into the performance.

According to My San Antonio, the fight broke out around 10:29 pm after Johnson had just finished singing “God Bless America”. Johnson’s rendition of the American celebratory song is not a new addition, as Johnson frequently performs the song at his shows to honor United States Military members and first responders.

In a video shared with the local publication, viewers can see fans “grabbing one another before falling to the ground.” In that same video, Johnson stops the show to address the crowd.

Cody Johnson’s Comments to The Crowd

Per the video acquired by MYSA, Johnson stops and states, “I mean, this is not a Travis Scott concert.” “There’s kids in the crowd, there’s all kinds of things in here that don’t need to happen,” adds the country musician. For context, it seems Johnson’s comments about Travis Scott might be in relation to the 10 people who died during the 2021 Texas Astroworld festival.

Prior to the altercation, Johnson had made a speech about “unity and not being divided.” Given the event following that speech, Johnson said to the crowd, “Well, so much for my speech on not being divided,” per the Daily Mail.

Following the comments, authorities intervened and kicked out the people involved in the brawl. Subsequently, Johnson carried on with the show. At this time, there is no clear motive as to why the fight broke out.

Despite this event, and per his website, Cody Johnson is still planning to perform his next tour date. That being so, Cody Johnson’s next show will transpire on Thursday, June 26, at Country Jam in Mack, Colorado. Johnson will conclude the summer stint of his tour on August 23 in Ridgedale, Missouri.
