As crews work to calm the fires spreading through the Los Angeles area, the devastation already left behind is starting to surface. As residents return to their properties, many are finding barely anything left. With families and homes ripped apart, JPMorgan announced that the economic loss created by the fires exceeded $50 billion. Hoping to help those in need, many singers banded together to perform at the FireAid benefit concert. While the concert featured several hit performances, nothing compared to when Nirvana reunited for a special set that included Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet.

Taking the stage, the Nirvana lineup consisted of Krist Novoselic, Pat Smear, and Dave Grohl. As for Kurt Cobain’s role, that honor went to St. Vincent, Joan Jett, and Kim Gordon. With the stars taking turns performing Cobain’s part, fans received a special treat when Violet took the stage to perform hit songs like “All Apologies.”

Thankfully, a video of Violet performing at the FireAid benefit concert surfaced online and already climbed above 200,000 views. Looking at the comments, fans appeared torn over Violet taking Cobain’s spot. Still, most fans loved watching the legacy of Nirvana continue on. “This lends credence to the theory that some of the Beatles sons should play with Paul & Ringo at this point. Pass the baton slowly.” Another person added, “All you ney sayers can go to hell. Violet, who is only 18 yrs old, did an awesome job, fronting the band. She might be young, but she has lived this rock and roll lifestyle. I’m sure, Violet knows more about the mind of Kurt Cobain, than any of us ever will. Rock on, child!”
Nirvana Not The Only One Helping Raise Money
Outside of the Nirvana throwback, other performances included Lady Gaga and Green Day. U2 didn’t miss the event either as the group donated a staggering $1 million. Even actor Billy Crystal appeared on stage to spread a few laughs as he admitted, “Our goal is simple tonight, to spend more money than the Dodgers spent on free agents.”
Crystal was one of the many residents who lost their homes. The actor even explained how the clothes he had were the same ones he wore when he evacuated. Living in the Pacific Palisades area for over four decades, Crystal still found time to attend the benefit concert and hopefully help those in need.
