Weezer have released the music video for their single “Thank God for Girls.”
The SCANTRON-directed video humorously plays up the religious tones of the song’s title and artwork (which features Pope Francis) and features frontman Rivers Cuomo as a money-hungry religious leader. While he leads a service with his followers, the rest of the band take up collections and then head to a shady back room to gamble it all away.
The song, along with its follow-up single “Do You Wanna Get High,” marks a return to the sound of Weezer’s early material and is gaining traction not only with fans, but with radio listeners as well.
