Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo discovered YouTube, and he has asked for YOUR help with the video series “Let’s Write a New Sawng.” “I’m in my music studio,” begins the stylishly mustached rocker, “and I need your help. That’s right. Me, and all of yous, are gonna write a song together.”

He outlined his request in a series of steps, the first of which was to come up with the song’s attitude. After instructing the audience to think along “fun” and “poppy” lines while maintaining a “tough” attitude, he settled on naming the track “‘80s Radio.”

In Step three, Cuomo asked the audience to help him “come up with some chords, yo.” In Step 10, during which he sought “bridge lyric” inspiration, he warned viewers not to try any “William Shakespeare” business, but to “keep in the spirit of the crunch master,” and to simply “let the good times roll.” Word up, home skillet.

Weezer’s next album is due on 6/3 via Interscope records. Will “‘80s Radio” make the cut?
