Huntley Released New Music, Played Intimate Show in Nashville

In August, Huntley released a new original single titled “Tell Me When It’s Over.” The song is a blues-infused rock song about wondering when the struggles will be over. To celebrate the release, he played a small show in Nashville at the Analog, inviting friends, fans, and industry types to see how he’s progressed since The Voice.

Huntley has come a long way in the time since the show, putting together a stunning band and writing new singles left and right. Following the show, he spoke with American Songwriter about what he’s been up to, and what he has planned for the future. He also explained the meaning behind “Tell Me When It’s Over.”

“I wrote it slightly about a relationship I was going through on The Voice,” he said at the time. “It was a struggle. I was dealing with a lot emotionally behind the scenes that no one knew at all. And it was kind of a point where … you’re kind of looking for the other person to tell you when it’s over.”

He continued, “That song, to me, kind of transitioned to something even bigger than that. It was more like everything I dealt with. It just felt like there was always something else. There was always something else after it and it just felt like the pain I was feeling, not only from her but everything else in life, it’s like I was just begging, tell me when it’s over. And the funny thing is, it’s never over. Yeah, it’s never over, it’s never going to be over.”

More New Music On the Way?

During the Nashville show, Huntley also debuted a new song called “Fire and Flames.” There hasn’t been an official release date for that song, although conflicting reports from 2022 claim it would be released the next year. That allegedly didn’t happen, but Huntley has since been preparing the song for release, hopefully this year.

“Fire and Flames” is a classic rock song utilizing every aspect of Huntley’s powerful, gravelly vocals. His band takes center stage, with solos from guitar player Walking Eagle, who was also a contestant on The Voice. The band is rounded out by Sam Skelton on saxophone, Daniel John on bass, Jo Palmer on drums, and Tyler Rose on rhythm guitar.

Huntley spoke about his band at length, gushing about their talents and their friendship. With pure excitement in his voice, he expressed, “that’s going to be the band for the rest of my life.”
