Wilco Do The Take Away Show

Videos by American Songwriter

If you’ve never seen La Blogotheque’s Take Away Show, you’re in for a treat. The French web series shoots indie rock bands (Okkervil River, Fleet Foxes) and singer-songwriters (Josh Rouse, Jeffrey Lewis) in unusual settings, from Delancey Street in New York City to outside the Eiffel Tower (check out a video archive here.) The show’s most recent guest? Wilco, who performed their pensive “Country Disappeared,” from Wilco (The Album), inside Montreal’s ornate Olympia Theater. The clip was directed by Derrick Belcham.

“Sometimes we tell ourselves that no, the band is too famous, too important, that their label would never let them do a Take Away Show,” La Blogotheque writes. “We have a fantasy list: Radiohead, Tom Waits, Chuck Berry, Cat Power. Wilco.” One down, four to go.
