With a treasure trove of reissued CDs and a new “Rock” Band video game sweeping the market, It’s Beatlemania all over again, and people are being asked a question that once gripped the globe: “Who is your favorite Beatle?”

For American Songwriter cover subject Jack White, it’s Paul McCartney. Bet you thought he was gonna say Lennon.

White, who is likely McCartney’s favorite White Stripe, told MTV News, “Paul is my favorite Beatle. He’s been a big influence on me — especially the way that he sings.”

I heard a cover song they did early on called ‘Hippy Hippy Shake’ that Paul sang, and I loved how high he sang it,” the Dead Weather drummer continued. “My voice isn’t comfortable in that higher range, but that song was a big influence on me trying to get my voice somewhere like that.”

My Morning Jacket’s Jim James seems to favor George Harrison. In August, James released the critically-acclaimed Tribute To, an EP of six Harrison covers.

Who’s your favorite Beatle? Or do you loved them all equally? Let us know.

  1. John Lennon has always been my favorite. BUT, I really don’t think anybody who was not alive when all 4 were alive can make an accurate judgement. You had to be alive when they were to truly know each one’s personality. Paul will win many times because more people have “seen him in action” and he has lived longer than John or George. Finally, why do I care what Jack White thinks?

  2. John has always been my favorite. Throughout his Beatles Life and his solo career I love his vocal style and his Songwriting Capability. His peace campaigning was touching too. I over all liked alot of the Lennon songs more than the McCartney ones.
