3 Groovy 1970s Disco Classics Bound To Leave You on Your Feet

The ’70s, personally, I wasn’t there, but man, how I would have liked to have been. Don’t get us wrong, the ’70s birthed some of the greatest classic rock bands of all time. However, it is impossible to talk about the decade without mentioning the revolutionary dance movement, disco. Say what you want about the genre, but if you have negative opinions on it then you likely just hate to dance.

“Boogie Wonderland” by Earth, Wind & Fire and The Emotions

When talking or listening to disco, Earth, Wind, & Fire are an essential group to include. They lifted the spirits of every disco-hall patron in the ’70s and their groove has kept them relevant in the 21st century. One song that has helped them accomplish that impressive feat is their 1979 hit, “Boogie Wonderland.”

In collaboration with the Emotions, EWF climbed all the way to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Furthermore, the song also graced the No. 14 spot on Billboard’s dance chart and sat at No. 2 on Billboard’s Hot Soul Singles chart.

“I Feel Love” by Donna Summer

Donna Summer was named the “Queen of Disco” for a very palpable reason—Her music was impervious to inaction. Specifically on her 1977 single, “I Feel Love.” Thanks to the song’s enchanting beat, you will have no choice but to at least tap a toe.

Following its 1977 release, Summer’s single peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reached No. 9 on the Soul Singles Chart. Additionally, Donna Summer and “I Feel Love” received an induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame for its timeless relevancy.

“Tragedy” by The Bee Gees

The Bee Gees’ musical talents were diverse, though, it seems the majority of their gifts were used to craft some of the greatest disco tracks of all time. It’s difficult to choose the Bee Gees’ “best” disco song, but their 1979 hit, “Tragedy” is surely in everyone’s top five.

Released in 1979, the Bee Gees’ scored hoards and hoards of success with the single. Besides charting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, “Tragedy” also peaked at No. 1 in the UK and became the Bee Gees’ fifth consecutive No. 1 single.
