Few songs by The Beatles are quite as memorable as the 1969 classic tune “Come Together”. And while it’s certainly a fun song to cover, nailing this particular song is no easy feat. Though, plenty have tried. Everyone from Aerosmith to Michael Jackson to Gary Clark Jr. has recorded versions of this Lennon-McCartney classic. However, I think the following three covers of “Come Together” by The Beatles are a bit too underrated. Let’s take a look!

1. Sarah Vaughan
This 1981 cover of “Come Together” comes from the incomparable Sarah Vaughan. Known for her gorgeous singing style, complete with a unique jazz vibrato, she is perfect for this song. Plenty have tried to sing like her, but few have succeeded. And she made taking on a Beatles song seem really easy.
For this cover, Vaughan actually sang with the band Toto in the recording studio. The two powerhouse entities do the song justice, and it might be truer to the original than you might expect. That synth organ is really pretty, too.
2. Joe Cocker
Joe Cocker historically had a habit of taking The Beatles’ music and making it even better. At least, that’s the case for his passionate rendition of “With A Little Help From My Friends” in 1968. That being said, Cocker also dished out other covers of the Fab Four’s music, including a similarly passionate cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together”.
This rendition was recorded later in his career in 2007, and his aged voice makes the tune even more incredible. It’s not extremely true to the original, as this rendition (recorded for the Across The Universe soundtrack) has a very jazz-leaning energy to it.
3. Smokin’ Mojo Filters
Ever heard of Smokin’ Mojo Filters? Unless you’re a pretty diehard Beatles fan, you might be totally unfamiliar with them. This band was actually a short-lived supergroup made up of Paul McCartney, Noel Gallagher (Oasis), Paul Weller (The Jam), Steve Cradock (Ocean Colour Scene), Carleen Anderson (Young Disciples), and Steve White.
The group came together for the charity record The Help Album in 1995, which yielded this interesting take on The Beatles’ classic tune “Come Together”. It was the supergroup’s only song and collaboration, and it’s pretty underrated, in my opinion.
