3 Nostalgic Songs That Anyone Who Was Young in the 60s Will Remember

The 1960s seem like a lifetime ago for many who were young during that golden era of music. A lot has changed since then, both culturally and politically. But no decade since has managed to capture the unique energy of the 60s when it comes to music. If you’re in the mood for some nostalgic songs from when you were young, these three tunes might just transport you back in time. Let’s take a look!

“Come Together” by The Beatles

This 1969 tune from The Beatles is a classic. Just about everyone alive, including those born way after the 1960s, knows this tune by heart. “Come Together” is just not the kind of song that can be replicated with the same quality as the original. Those legendary, almost nonsensical vocals, those crunchy guitars, that legendary percussive introduction. “Come Together” is one of the finest songs from Abbey Road. It is also one of the most loved songs from The Beatles’ whole career.

“Good Vibrations” by The Beach Boys

The nostalgic songs of The Beach Boys, like The Beatles, are so closely associated with the 1960s that anyone who was young during that decade would recognize even their deep cuts immediately. “Good Vibrations”, however, is about as far from a Beach Boys deep cut as you can get. This 1966 track from Pet Sounds is legendary, and it embodies that 60s pop music sound. Nobody was doing it like Brian Wilson back in the day, and it’s hard not to immediately want to sing along when this tune comes on the radio.

“My Girl” by The Temptations

This entry on our list of nostalgic songs from the 60s is truly unforgettable. It’s a classic that most people, young and old, will recognize and hum along to immediately after it comes on. Released by The Temptations in 1965, “My Girl” was a huge hit for the group. David Ruffin’s vocals are on another level, and it’s wild to think that this was the first single in which the band gave those vocal duties to Ruffin. It’s also wild to think that this song almost never happened, as it was originally put together for Smokey Robinson and The Miracles to perform. Thankfully, The Temptations convinced Robinson to let them have it instead.
