Love has historically been bountiful in the classic rock world. Plenty of iconic unions have taken place throughout the 20th century’s era of rock music. The following classic rock romances, specifically, are still considered legendary today. Let’s take a look!

Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham

This list would not be complete without mentioning the tumultuous and good-music-yielding relationship between Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. These two had a rough go of it for years, but man was Rumours a good album that came out of that messy relationship. It seems like these two have parted ways for good romantically, but their occasional appearance together for Fleetwood Mac reunions is always quite a treat to see.

Paul McCartney and Linda McCartney

This one often breaks my heart to think about. After the demise of The Beatles, all Paul McCartney wanted to do was make music with his wife, Linda. And they certainly did make a lot of music together with Wings. Tragically, Linda passed away in 1998 from complications related to breast cancer. Paul McCartney eventually remarried, but the love he had with Linda is still felt today, particularly through the albums they made together.

John Lennon and Yoko Ono

A Beatle makes this list again, and this time it’s John Lennon. Lennon and Yoko Ono’s relationship began, according to many sources, as an affair. Like Paul and Linda, John and Yoko made a ton of music together, much of which is still considered legendary today. While the couple took a bit of a break in 1973 during Lennon’s “lost weekend,” they stayed together for years, right up until Lennon was tragically killed in 1980. Ono continues to honor Lennon’s legacy today, as does their son, Sean.

Debbie Harry and Chris Stein

I personally think this entry on our list of classic rock romances is on the underrated side. The lead singer of Blondie, the legendary Debbie Harry, formed a relationship with Chris Stein shortly after the two co-founded the band. They met way back in 1973 and were together for well over a decade and a half. It’s sad that they eventually parted ways, but it’s quite admirable that they were able to continue to be musical partners in Blondie. In fact, Harry is the godmother of Stein’s children.
