Performing a famous song by one of The Voice’s coaches in front of them is quite a risk. On one hand, they might love it and turn around immediately. On the other hand, they might not hit that button at all. Still, these four Voice contestants decided to showcase their bravery by performing some of the coaches’ songs!

1. Josiah Hawley
On Season 2 of The Voice, contestant Josiah Hawley decided to sing a cover of “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5, of which coach Adam Levine is famously the band’s frontman. Quite hilariously, it took a few seconds for Levine to even notice that it was his song. Coach Blake Shelton noticed right away and slammed his button before Levine could think twice. It’s a shame Hawley didn’t win.
2. Jeff Lewis
When it comes to The Voice contestants who performed coaches’ songs during their blind auditions, this moment is pretty memorable. Jeff Lewis performed a cover of Usher’s famous hit “U Got It Bad” on Season 4 of The Voice, armed with just his mighty vocals and an acoustic guitar. It’s not the type of some you’d expect to get an acoustic cover, but Lewis did a stunning job with his performance.
Usher clocked it immediately with a wry grin before finally hitting his button, followed by Blake Shelton and Shakira.
3. Caitlin Caporale
Back in Season 8, talented vocalist Caitlin Caporale decided to cover Christina Aguilera’s “Impossible”. The second Caporale got two words out, Aguilera raised her hands up and said “Oh man!” from her seat.
Obviously, it takes a lot to take on an Aguilera song in front of the pop star herself. For some reason, Aguilera was apprehensive about hitting her button. Blake Shelton and Pharrell Williams smashed their buttons first, but Aguilera decided not to. That’s gotta sting.
4. Brian Nhira
Brian Nhira decided to try and impress Pharrell during his blind audition on Season 10 with a rendition of the latter’s hit pop song “Happy”. The opening bars of the song are extremely recognizable, and Pharrell nodded with a smile as Nhira began to perform. It was looking rough for a minute, despite how killer Nhira’s vocals were. Luckily, at the tail end of the song, Pharell hit his button and was quickly followed by Blake Shelton.
