5 Songs That Bob Dylan Just Can’t Stop Playing Live

Bob Dylan is usually pretty good about mixing up his setlists and dishing out songs that not everyone will expect. It’s not exactly shocking, considering his discography is so massive and full of plenty of options. That being said, Bob Dylan does have a few songs from his early career that he has performed live the most. Let’s look at just a few of those fan favorites, shall we?

1. “All Along The Watchtower”

This is by far Bob Dylan’s most-performed track out of all of his live songs. As of April 2025, Dylan has performed “All Along The Watchtower” a total of 2,260 times, according to setlist.fm.

Bob Dylan first released “All Along The Watchtower” back in 1967 for the album John Wesley Harding. The folk rock song was given a harder rock and roll edge when Jimi Hendrix famously covered it back in 1968 for Electric Ladyland.

2. “Like A Rolling Stone”

Bob Dylan has performed his classic folk tune “Like A Rolling Stone” approximately 2,011 times thus far in his career. This legendary, career-defining folk rock tune was released back in 1965 for the similarly legendary album Highway 61 Revisited.

3. “Highway 61 Revisited”

“Highway 61 Revisited”, a classic from Dylan’s earlier career, has made it to his setlists more than 2,052 times. It seems like Bob Dylan might love the album of the same name more than he lets on, considering he has performed songs from that 1965 record more than others. And the title track is by far the most loved by fans and regularly makes lists of the greatest songs of all time.

4. “Tangled Up In Blue”

“Tangled Up In Blue” is apparently a favorite of Dylan’s considering he has played it about 1,711 times during his career. This track comes from Dylan’s 1975 comeback album Blood On The Tracks.

5. “Blowin’ In The Wind”

Bob Dylan doesn’t whip this one out as much as live songs like “All Along The Watchtower” and “Like A Rolling Stone”. Still, “Blowin’ In The Wind” makes this list because Dylan has played it more than 1,573 times as of April 2025. This early career hit comes from the 1963 album The Freewheelin’ Bob Dylan and is the most protest-leaning tune on this list.
