Paramore Taps Lil Uzi Vert for “Misery Business” Collaboration

At every Paramore show, Hayley Williams brings one member of the audience on stage to help her close out their breakout hit, “Misery Business.” The tradition has become well-loved by their fanbase, which apparently includes Lil Uzi Vert.

During a show at Madison Square Garden earlier this week, Williams broke the tradition of pulling up a guest singer from the crowd and instead brought the rapper on stage to sing the bridge: I watched his wildest dreams come true / Not one of them involving you / Just watch my wildest dreams come true / Not one of them involving.

After Uzi performed a nonchalant version of the bridge, Williams quieted the crowd so she could say a few words about her fellow musician.

“You’ve said so many nice things about me,” Williams said. “You’re so sweet to me, and to Paramore. Can we do this bridge again together? Then we’re going to melt their faces off.”

The pair then took on the same lines together, upping the energy and bounding around the stage. Watch the moment, below.

Earlier the same day, Williams told Zane Lowe at Apple Music that the rapper had reached out in 2020 to see if he could collaborate with the emo trailblazers.

“I know that fans are going to be so pissed at me for saying this, but I wrote him back on Instagram and I was like, ‘Buddy, I love you so much, but I don’t want to be that famous,'” she revealed.

“I told him like we were getting ready to take a break,” she added. “I obviously had a lot of issues going on that no one really knew about and I was like, ‘Bro, I just need to disappear. I don’t want to be that kind of a famous person.’ Because that is…He’s like a big artist, man. My stepbrother is obsessed with them. He was pissed when I told him the story.”

Paramore was amid their hiatus from releasing albums in 2020. The group shared their first album since 2017 earlier this year, This Is Why.

To celebrate the long-awaited release, the band has embarked on a North American tour. Find their remaining tour dates, HERE.
