According to MySanAntonio.com, police responded to the venue at about 10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27. They arrived to find a 21-year-old man lying on the ground outside the entrance with what appeared to be multiple stab wounds all over his body.
Police say a fight broke out between the two men during a metalcore concert at the Paper Tiger, where Texas crossover/metalcore band Life Cycles was headlining. The show’s lineup also included Fear Of Loss, Voracious Contempt, Crossways 3000, and Public Threat.
Witnesses told police that John Anthony Guerrero, 36, pulled out a knife and stabbed the younger man multiple times. San Antonio law enforcement officials arrested Guerrero and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The second-degree felony carries a potential prison sentence of up to 20 years.

EMS transported the 21-year-old man to a local hospital following the San Antonio metalcore show stabbing. MySanAntonio.com reports that he sustained “non life-threatening injuries.” He is in stable condition and expected to recover.
Bexar County records indicate that Guerrero will appear in court March 3 for a pre-indictment hearing. He is barred from purchasing, possessing, owning or using a firearm while awaiting that appearance.
Life Cycles announced in a Dec. 28 Facebook post that they planned to put on a free show Jan. 31 at the Paper Tiger due to their set getting “cut extremely short.”
