George Harrison did his fair share of great guitar work while with the Beatles, but his expertise in that area didn’t end when the band did. Below, find four of our favorite Harrison guitar moments, post-Beatles.

4 of George Harrison’s Best Guitar Moments Post-Beatles
1. “My Sweet Lord”
“My Sweet Lord” is one of Harrison’s most instantly recognizable solo tracks. The warping, hypnotizing guitar line is the crux of this song of spiritual devotion. From the first few notes, the listener can tell this song is destined for a replay–or two, or three, or more…
My sweet Lord
My Lord
Mmm, my Lord
I really want to see you
Really want to be with you
Really want to see you, Lord
But it takes so long, my Lord
2. “That Which I Have Lost”
“That Which I Have Lost” has a western-tinge to it that is oh-so-inviting. Though it may not be one of Harrison’s most well-known solo songs, it is certainly worth a listen. Harrison takes on a new persona while riffing on his instrument. It’s a welcomed change of pace in the late-Beatle’s discography.
I found someone who showed me
Illumined my consciousness
Removed the dark from in me
And given me that which I have lost
3. “Leave A Light On”
“One of the slide solos had its own little tune which related to the tune Belinda was singing, but it’s also a little composition in its own right, which I was really pleased with,” Harrison once said about this Belinda Carlisle cut. He once called it his favorite slide guitar work of his own–and we have to agree. Harrison’s playing is very colorful here. It nearly plays like a vocal line in and of itself.
Darling, leave a light on for me
I’ll be there before you close the door
To give you all the love that you need
Darling, leave a light on for me
‘Cause when the world takes me away
You are still the air that I breathe
4. “Gimme Some Truth”
John Lennon tapped Harrison to play guitar on his post-Beatles track “Gimme Some Truth.” Though it may not have been the Beatles reunion fans craved, it’s nice to think of at least two members back together again in the studio.
I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just give me some truth
