Whitney Houston was unarguably one of the best vocalists in modern history. Her robust catalog of hits was tailor-made for flexing her vocal chops. Though she has many to choose from, check out three of our favorites, below.

3 of Whitney Houston’s Best Vocal Moments
1. “Run to You”
Not that any Houston song is easy to sing, but “Run to You” is an insurmountable vocal mountain for us mere mortals. Houston’s powerful vibrato featured on the chorus of this song is evidence of her singular talent. It may not be as flashy as some of her other tracks, but we’d argue it is one of the most impressive in her catalog.
I know that when you look at me
There’s so much that you just don’t see
But if you would only take the time
I know in my heart you’d find
A girl who’s scared sometimes
Who isn’t always strong
Can’t you see the hurt in me?
I feel so all alone
2. “I Believe In You and Me”
“I Believe In You and Me” is a slow build, but the payoff is more than worth the wait. Houston’s vocals are deeply intimate here. She sings like she’s letting us into her deepest desires. It’s impossible for your attention to stray after clicking play on this mind-boggling track.
I believe in you and me
I believe that we will be in love eternally
Well, as far as I can see
You will always be the one for me
Oh, yes, you will
I believe in dreams again
I believe that love will never end
And like the river finds the sea
I was lost, now I’m free
‘Cause I believe in you and me
3. “Saving All My Love for You”
Similarly to “Run to You,” the power of “Saving All My Love for You” lies in its simplicity. There aren’t buzzy high notes or crazy runs, but it’s a stunning offering nonetheless.
A few stolen moments is all that we share
You’ve got your family and they need you there
Though I’ve tried to resist being last on your list
But no other man’s gonna do
So I’m saving all my love for you
It’s not very easy living all alone
My friends try and tell me find a man of my own
But each time I try, I just break down and cry
‘Cause I’d rather be home feeling blue
So I’m saving all my love for you
