Over the weekend, the legendary progressive metal band Tool held a festival called Live in the Sand. The three-day event took place at the Hard Rock & Royalton Resorts in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It featured Mastodon, Eagles of Death Metal, Coheed and Cambria, Primus, and more. However, the centerpiece of the event–the thing that drew fans from around the world–was unique headlining sets from Tool.

According to many fans online, no single-day tickets were available for Live in the Sand. As a result, fans spent thousands of dollars to travel to the Dominican Republic, buy tickets, obtain lodging, and more. However, those who attended the festival assumed it would be a worthwhile investment to see the iconic band play two sets in the same weekend. However, fans say Tool didn’t deliver on their promise of two unique setlists.

Recently, fans have taken to social media to share their frustration after attending Live in the Sand.
Tool Fans Disappointed by Repeated Songs in Live in the Sand Setlists
“Tool planned to play an hour and a half each night. The first night did not disappoint,” according to a Reddit post. The first night’s set featured “many great songs that fans were dying to hear,” the post continued. For many, though, the second night was a letdown. “They only played an hour and mostly repeats from the first night,”: the post revealed. “Why fly to the [Dominican Republic] on a three-night ticket to watch an hour of repeat songs from the night before? Not sure what to say but this was a very disappointing show, especially for the cost.”
Several fans pointed out other bands who had no problem doing multiple shows without repeating songs. Phish came up multiple times. More specifically, their Bakers Dozen run at Madison Square Garden. “12 nights, 26 sets, 237 f**ing songs, no repeats. That’s how you do a residency,” one fan opined. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Clutch, and Metallica were among the bands fans praised for keeping setlists fresh.
