Member of 80s Group Five Star, Stedman Pearson, Dead at 60

Before finding his way to the stage, Stedman Pearson went to college to study fashion and dance. But with his sisters and brother joining forces to create Five Star, Pearson eventually found himself under the spotlight as they produced songs like “Find the Time”, “Can’t Wait Another Minute”, and “Stay Out of My Life.” While landing several Top 10 hits, Five Star won the brit Award in 1987 for Best British Group. With their music continuing to entertain fans all over the world, Pearson recently passed away at 60 years old.

Dealing with several health issues over the recent years, Pearson suffered from diabetes and was even placed on dialysis. With the news of his passing circulating social media, the family released a statement, reading, “He was a gentleman to the very end – in every way and an amazing son, brother and uncle. May the memories and love he gave to us and the world be our greatest comfort. He will be deeply missed.”

Fans Celebrate Legacy Of Stedman Pearson

While allowing the family time to process the passing, fans jumped on social media to express their love for Pearson and thank him for his contributions to music. “So sorry to hear that Stedman Pearson is gone. Absolutely one of the most beautiful men my teenage eyes had ever seen. I hope that one day Five Star, their music, and pop culture impact they had on us tweens, will be seriously reevealuated and celebrated.”

Another fan didn’t even want to believe the news, adding, “Was hoping this wasn’t true but I think it sadly is. Anyone who knows me know how much I love Five Star; my childhood was a magical time thanks to their music, mesmerising dance routines and of course the incredible costumes. Such a sad loss.”

Among the tributes pouring in was singer Jaden Cornelius, who considered Pearson a friend and an amazing dancer. “Woke up to learn of my friends passing…… HE was one of the gentlest and lovely people I knew.. an awesome dancer with just a childlike zest for life…. you made a huge difference to my life and will be missed muchly!!!”

While leaving behind a family and legacy, Pearson continues to live on as his love for music is timeless.
