3 Times Famous Rock Musicians Screwed Over Their Bandmates

Musicians, especially in the mainstream rock world, often beef with each other. It happens all the time, and fans tend to love the drama a little too much. And even the most mild of rivalries can turn into instances where rock musicians have straight-up screwed over their bandmates. Let’s look at a few examples, shall we?

1. Oasis

Honestly, this list of rock musicians who screwed over their bandmates could be made entirely up of things the Gallagher brothers have done to each other. It’s a miracle that they’re getting back together for an Oasis reunion tour, honestly. The two have been fighting against some serious tension for years, and that tension came to a head during one MTV Unplugged performance.

Ahead of the performance, Liam Gallagher only got through a few songs during rehearsals before leaving. Minutes before they were set to go live, he bailed on the performance. Noel Gallagher had to step in for him. Liam would then sit in the audience and berate Noel from a distance, effectively sabotaging the performance.

2. Nine Inch Nails

Trent Reznor is the real conductor behind Nine Inch Nails. That much is pretty obvious to any fan. That being said, it’s still a band with a revolving door of members who have helped Nine Inch Nails become as big as they are today. One former member named Richard Patrick decided he had had enough of Reznor and promptly ditched the band, leaving Reznor in a tight spot.

According to Patrick, Reznor told him to “deliver pizzas” to deal with the lack of money he was making while on tour for NIN’s Pretty Hate Machine. There was some additional drama that led Patrick to quit the band and form his own band, Filter. After the whole debacle, Reznor would release a diss track about Patrick called “Piggy”.

3. Red Hot Chili Peppers

John Frusciante was struggling with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ sudden rise to fame, and that came to a head during a performance on Saturday Night Live years ago.

In the midst of h****n addiction, Frusciante started riffing during the live television performance and intentionally started playing out of tune. Anthony Kiedis looked visibly mad, and it was clear the performance was completely botched. Frusciante would eventually make it out of his addiction, but not before quitting the band minutes before taking stage and, yet again, screwing the band over.
