Kicking off like an ’80s spy movie soundtrack, “Feels Like Heaven” picks up a full-on dance beat before Baltimore by-way-of North Carolina’s Benny Boeldt’s falsetto drop in. “This feels like heaven,” he sings over and over as the song pulses forward over an array of smart synths. “Feels like heaven” are the only words Boeldt needs for the whole song, employing a more effected vocal take on later verses as well as layers of harmonization. For Adventure’s first, self-titled release on D.C.’s Carpark Records, Boeldt produced an album of electronic instrumentals. With more proper songwriting – like lyrics and vocals – on Lesser Known, Boeldt shows he’s up for pushing his game forward. Adventure tours with the equally-forward-thinking Toro Y Moi in March and April.
