Victoria Reed’s music career has been bubbling below the surface for a while now. The soulful folk-pop singer’s dream of performing was instilled at a young age, when she watched from backstage as her father—longtime Bob Seger saxophonist Alto Reed—played music major venues in her hometown of Detroit. Now, with the release of her debut album Chariot, it’s the Brooklyn-based songwriter’s turn to take the stage.

American Songwriter is pleased to premiere Chariot, which can be streamed in its entirety below.

“The songs and the experience of the record itself coming together really ended up serving as a vehicle of spiritual rescue for me,” Reed says of her debut album. “I titled the record after the Chariot tarot card, which I pulled when I was more or less at the apex of an extremely challenging, rug-pulled-out-from-beneath-me kind of moment. It’s a very favorable card, all about once opposing forces reaching reconciliation and ultimately, some form of well-earned personal triumph.”

The album officially drops on Feb. 26 via Botanica Records.
