Carnie Wilson's Daughter Heads To Hollywood

Lola Bonfiglio comes from a musical family. The daughter of Wilson Phillips singer Carnie Wilson and granddaughter of Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson sang Kacey Musgraves’ “Rainbow.” The judges put her through to Hollywood, but not before her mom and aunt, Wendy Wilson, showed up onstage.

“I get emotional when I’m on stage, so I have to look the other way. I can’t look at her because I’ll be like, ‘Holy s—. This is my daughter,’” the “Hold On” singer told People last year. “To hear her sing and the audience being moved by her singing [is] one of the best feelings in my life that I’ve ever felt.”

Sam Sparks Heads to Hollywood After Tragic Accident

Just two years removed from a car wreck that left him paralyzed from the waist down, Sam Sparks is angling to become the next American Idol. The 26-year-old from Dardanelle, Arkansas, impressed Luke Bryan with his gritty, country-rock vocals on an original song, “Colorado Gray.”

“What an inspiration!” one Instagram user wrote. “The true definition of never give up!”

Sparks’ best friend, Malick, joined him onstage after signing him up for American Idol. “Now, Sam, you hang on to Malik,” Lionel Richie said. “‘Cause every one of us needs a friend just like that.”

Is Sophia Humbert The Next Carrie Underwood? Maybe, After She Works On Her Rage.

Sophia Humbert delivered a solid rendition of judge Carrie Underwood’s “Before He Cheats,” but judges wanted more rage. So Humbert, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Carrie Underwood all piled into a golf cart and headed for what Bryan called “an accelerated course on angst, anger, frustration…”

They arrived at a beat-up red pickup truck, remarkably similar to the one Underwood obliterated in the “Before He Cheats” music video. Then, each of them took turns bringing the vengeful breakup anthem to life—digging their key into the side, smashing both headlights, and slashing tires.

After that, Humbert raged her way to three “yes” votes from the judges. She’s heading to Hollywood. But not all viewers appreciated the learning exercise.

Is Mattie Pruitt Destined For The Top 5? 'American Idol' Viewers Think So.

It’s still early in the season, but American Idol fans are already throwing out some bold predictions. When Mattie Pruitt began singing Jessie Murph’s “How Could You,” one X/Twitter user declared she could easily make the top 10. By the end of the performance they had changed their mind.

The judges were equally effusive with their praise. “Oh my God, I loved every minute of it. Outstanding,” gushed Lionel Richie.

Jamier Jones Just Blew Lionel Richie's Mind

With his unbelievable runs and silky-smooth vocals, Jamier Jones just may be one to watch this season. The 19-year-old from Buffalo, New York is headed to Hollywood after a stunning audition of Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control.” An astonished Lionel Richie declared that Jamier had pulled off “the longest run I’ve ever heard in my whole life.”

I love Jamier already. #AmericanIdol

'American Idol' Fans Hail Contestant the Next Jack Blocker

While American Idol viewers fell in love with Jack Blocker last year, his unorthodox facial expressions nearly sank his finale night run before it began. Now fans are drawing some similarities between the third-place finisher and Penny Samar. The Philadelphia artist punched her golden ticket to Hollywood with a spirited rendition of Chappell Roan’s “PInk Pony Club.” (Fittingly, Samar has dubbed her fans the Pink Penny Club, with merchandise to prove it.

Katy hated Jack’s facial expression last season and he made it FAR. I predict Penny will have a similar journey.

It’s not always about the facial expressions, it’s about the voice.
