Sheryl Crow nearly served as a coach on The Voice. While attending a recent event in Nashville, the country singer revealed that she was offered the opportunity to be a coach on the very first season of the competition series back in 2011.

“[My son Levi] was about 2 years old and I didn’t want to move back to L.A. and so I didn’t do it,” Crow told People as to why she turned down the gig. “And I have not really entertained it since then because we have a busy life here and normalcy is really lovely.”
Ultimately, the show’s first-ever coaches were Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green. Now in its 27th season, Levine is back in the coach’s chair along with John Legend, Michael Bublé, and Kelsea Ballerini.
Though Crow turned down her initial opportunity to join The Voice, she’s found another way to get involved. This season, Crow and LeAnn Rimes are serving as mega mentors to the contestants.
“I loved mentoring,” Crow told the outlet. “It was a blast, and I absolutely adore Kelsea.”

Crow will be mentoring contestants on Ballerini and Bublé’s teams, while Rimes will do so for Legend and Levine’s teams.
The country stars are joining the show for its Playoffs round. Each coach is entering the upcoming portion of the competition with five contestants each. The coaches alone will have to pick two artists from their team to advance to the live shows.
On Team Adam, there’s Kolby Cordell (who he stole from Legend), Ethan Eckenroad, Lucia Flores-Wiseman, Conor James, and Britton Moore. Team Bublé has Jadyn Cree, Adam David, Barry Jean Fontenot, Kaiya Hamilton, and Angie Rey (stolen from Ballerini).
Team Legend consists of BD.ii, Bryson Battle, Ari Camille (who he stole from Levine), Olivia Kuper Harris, and Renzo. Finally, Kelsea rounded out her team with Iris Herrera, Darius J. (who she stole from Levine), Jaelen Johnston, Alanna Lynise, and Tinika Wyatt.
The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
