Andrew Bird brought his band to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee on March 19, to perform songs from his new album Break It Yourself.

Bird began the evening solo, sampling himself on vocals and violin to create an ethereal wall of sound.
“We’re going to play a lot of new songs from the album tonight,” said Bird, who was battling a cold. “They really are fun to play. I’ve never felt so ceremonious about a record before.”
Bird killed it on an unscripted cover of Kermit The Frog’s “It’s Not Easy Being Green,” which he really seemed to embody.

Thanks to a equipment failure, the band ended up performing several Break It Yourself songs acoustically, which they’d never tried before. “That was fun,” said Bird, who noted that the whole thing was “serendipitous.”
Bird ending the evening with some covers of indie band Handsome Family and the country music chestnut “Trials, Troubles, Tribulations.”
