01Applications

Between the Lines is admission by application. Submitting an application does not reserve a seat. Our team reviews every application, and approved writers receive a private link to purchase their seat. Approval is at the sole discretion of American Songwriter.

Participants must be 18 or older on the first day of camp.

02Payment

• A seat is $2,999. The first 5 seats paid receive an early rate of $2,699. Once 5 seats are paid, the early rate is no longer available.
• Full payment or a 25% deposit reserves your seat.
• Any remaining balance is due by March 5, 2027, four weeks before camp. If the balance is not paid by then, your reservation is canceled with a full refund and the seat is offered to another applicant.
• No discount codes may be used at checkout unless they were issued by American Songwriter specifically for this camp.

03Cancellation & refunds

• Cancel on or before March 5, 2027 and receive a full refund.
• Cancel after March 5, 2027 and receive a refund minus a $150 processing fee.
• To cancel, email info@americansongwriter.com. The date we receive your email is your cancellation date.

If American Songwriter cancels the camp, you receive a full refund of everything you paid for your seat. We are not responsible for travel or lodging costs you booked yourself.

04What your seat includes

• Three days of camp: an opening evening in Nashville on Friday, then Saturday and Sunday writing at Blackbird Studio
• Meals and non-alcoholic beverages during camp, as outlined in the run of show
• Co-writing sessions, mentorship and feedback from camp mentors
• The ability to capture what you write and hear it back

Your seat does not include travel, lodging, parking, or meals outside of camp hours. Approved writers receive our recommendations for places to stay near the studio.

05Schedule & mentors

The full run of show is sent to approved writers before camp. Session times, room assignments and the order of the program may change.

Mentors are confirmed as the camp approaches. If a mentor can no longer attend, we will make every effort to bring in someone of comparable experience. A change in the mentor lineup is not grounds for a refund outside the cancellation policy above.

06At the studio

Blackbird Studio is a working recording facility. While on site, you agree to:

• Follow the direction of camp staff and studio staff at all times
• Stay in the rooms and areas assigned to the camp
• Leave studio equipment and instruments alone unless staff invite you to use them
• Keep food and drinks in the areas staff designate

Bring your primary instrument. Studio instruments are not guaranteed to be available to campers. You are responsible for your own belongings, and for any damage you cause to the facility or its equipment.

07Photos, video & recordings

• Photos, video and audio you capture at camp are for your personal use only, under a waiver you e-sign before camp.
• A separate waiver allows American Songwriter to photograph and film camp and use that content to promote the camp and American Songwriter.
• Mentors may ask that certain sessions not be recorded. Please respect that.
• Blackbird Studio's rooms, equipment and branding may not be photographed or filmed for commercial use without the studio's permission.

08Conduct

Between the Lines is a professional writing room. Abusive, aggressive, harassing or threatening behavior toward anyone at camp is not tolerated. American Songwriter may remove any participant from camp for conduct, without a refund.
