At age 88, Buddy Guy is expected to wind down his touring career this year after an encore leg of his Damn Right Farewell trek this June. Now, the blues a legend has added a special additional performance to his 2025 itinerary. Guy has joined the lineup of the finale of this year’s Experience Hendrix tribute tour on April 12 in Atlanta.

Experience Hendrix Tour was launched more than 20 years to celebrate the music and legacy of the late Jimi Hendrix. Each trek features a lineup of talented guitarists and other musicians playing classic Hendrix tunes. The 2025 Experience Hendrix Tour kicks off March 11 in Cincinnati and features 27 dates.

Guy, who Jimi himself cited as a major influence, has taken part in multiple previous tours.
Buddy issued a statement about his upcoming performance on the trek, while his sharing recollections of Jimi.
“Thank you to the Hendrix Tour family for bringing me back to perform at The Fox Theatre in Atlanta on April 12,” he said. “I’ll never forget meeting Jimi at that club in New York in 1968, and I’m so grateful we had the chance to become friends. It’s an honor to help keep his legacy alive.”
Jimi’s sister, Janie Hendrix, who oversees her late brother’s legacy and estate, also commented about Guy’s upcoming tribute performance.
“Having Buddy come out … to play with us in the Atlanta show is an amazing finale,” she said. “It’s a true act of friendship and mutual admiration. I can’t think of a better way to close out such an epic event. We are beyond thrilled to be able to bring this kind of energy to the stage and to our audiences.”

Several other artists also recently joined the 2025 Experience Hendrix Tour lineup. They include David Hidalgo and Cesar Rosas of Los Lobos, Spin Doctors guitarist Eric Schenkman, and Dweezil Zappa.
Among the tour’s previously announced performers are Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Marcus King, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, Eric Johnson, Devon Allman, Samantha Fish, and Mato Nanji of Indigenous.

Guy also will be touring this spring as a special guest of Tedeschi Trucks Band. His stint as the jam band’s special guest runs from a May 6 concert in Irving, Texas, through a May 22 performance at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.

The encore leg of Buddy’s Damn Right Farewell trek begins June 6 in Niagara Falls, New York, and is plotted out through a June 28 show in Joliet, Illinois.
