Collings Guitars T Series

Collings-D2H-T-1
Austin, TX - May 4, 2016 - Collings Guitars has announced its new T Series of traditionally voiced dreadnought and OM-size guitars, offering an intriguing new tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound.  Developed with input from acclaimed guitarist Julian Lage and vintage expert Jim Baggett, not to mention Bill Collings' own 40 year history crafting fine acoustic guitars, the new T series is designed to deliver strong projection and a warm, fundamental tonal response characteristic of vintage guitars from the 1930s era.
All T Series models are constructed using animal protein glue and utilize ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer finishes, making them exceptionally dynamic and responsive.  Bracing and tone woods are adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by full rounded highs and a present low midrange, all while retaining a quick attack and crisp projection.  The T Series also introduces a new Traditional neck profile with a comfortable vintage taper and rounded fingerboard edges. Other unique appointments include gold mother-of-pearl inlays and custom wood fiber purflings with matching rosettes.
One of the most exciting elements of the Traditional Series is the inclusion of Collings' new vintage-inspired hardshell cases.  Designed and expertly built in the Collings shop, these sleekly contoured cases feature vintage-style construction and modern durability with a custom fit perfectly matched to the new T Series.
Key features include:
  • Specially selected premium tonewoods
  • "Traditional" voicing with pre-war style Sitka spruce bracing
  • Animal protein glue
  • Ultra-thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish with aging toner
  • 1 3/4" bone nut and cutthrough saddle with 2 5/16" string spacing
  • New Traditional neck profile with rounded fingerboard edges
  • Gold mother-of-pearl fingerboard and peghead inlays
T-series models are available through authorized Collings retailers from $5,000 MSRP with street price of $4,500.
