After wrapping up a spring tour with Phillip Phillips, Churchill will release their full-length debut for A&M/Octone, mixing Americana-influenced pop/rock with production from studio whiz Brendan O’Brien (Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam, the Killers). Move over, Lumineers! There’s another rootsy, anthemic, Denver-based band in town.

On this acoustic version of “I Am Yours,” Churchill strip down their sound to its bare elements: mandolin, guitar, co-ed vocals and a simple, insistent drum pattern. Recorded live during a tour stop in Atlanta, it’s proof that Churchill doesn’t need a big-shot outsider like O’Brien to spruce up their music. That being said, we’re excited for the album, which has been in production since February 13.

“‘I Am Yours’ is one of my favorite songs that we play,” says Tim Bruns, who shares vocal duties with pianist Bethany Kelly. “It’s a really personal lyric, and always reminds me that if I love someone, I really have to fight for them.”
