From Music City to Movie Theaters: Bobby Bones Talks Bringing Songwriters’ Nights Nationwide (Exclusive)

Bobby Bones is taking Nashville’s famed, intimate songwriters’ nights nationwide in March when he teams with Fathom Entertainment to present Music Night™: Live from Nashville!

The songwriters’ night will feature Brett James (“Jesus, Take the Wheel” by Carrie Underwood and “Out Last Night” by Kenny Chesney); Kelly Archer (“Sleep Without You” by Brett Young and “I’m Gonna Love You” by Carrie Underwood and Cody Johnson); and Matt Jenkins (“Cop Car” by Keith Urban and “Setting the World on Fire” by Kenny Chesney). In true Nashville style, the writers will take turns playing their hit songs and telling the stories behind them. Set for Saturday, March 8, at 7 p.m. CST at Analog in Nashville, with an encore performance on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m. local time, the event will be the first live nationwide broadcast from Nashville direct to movie theaters—or as the official website puts it, “From Music City to Movie Theaters.”

“This is a great room, and we’ll have a crowd in there,” Bones said of Analog. “It’s a live event, and Brett James, Kelly Archer, and Matt Jenkins are just going to play their massive songs and tell the stories behind them. But also, they’re really good as singers. There are parts and stories to the songs that I think a lot of people don’t know unless they go search it out. And so we want them to not have to search—they can just experience what the songwriting part of Nashville is all about.”

Bobby Bones Wants to Introduce Nashville’s Songwriters’ Nights to Moviegoers

Bones said the idea was pitched to him as a silver screen version of his popular Bobbycast podcast. Fathom executives told him they wanted to showcase nationwide the experience most people had to travel to Music City to see.

“People don’t really know unless they go and try to study up on songwriting,” he said. “It was, ‘How do we highlight these awesome creators, these songwriters, and also get the stories behind the songs?’”
Bones likens it to similar entertainment experiences such as live nationwide showings of CATS or Phantom of the Opera.

“We figured we could get a whole lot of people to experience what Nashville has and watch a live guitar pull and songwriting session with some of the best songwriters,” he said. “It’s what Nashville is already doing, and we’re trying to get it out to cities all at the same time.”

Independent Executive Producer Dean Sell created and produced Music Night™: Live from Nashville!

“I had been in and out of Nashville for years, but it wasn’t until I moved here that I discovered the city’s most prized possession: the songwriters,” Sell said in a statement. “Nashville is a very special place, but not everyone can get here. So we’re bringing a little piece of Music City to the world.”

Bobby Bones Has Raised More Than $27 Million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

But before Bones can tackle Music Night™: Live from Nashville!, he and his Raging Idiots will produce their annual Million Dollar Show at Ryman Auditorium on March 4. Over its 11-year history, the event has raised more than $27 million to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. This year’s lineup includes Bobby Bones & The Raging Idiots, Miranda Lambert, O-Town, Bailey Zimmerman, Tracy Lawrence, Clint Black, George Birge, The Castellows, Iris Copperman, and special appearances from various special guests.

“The fact that we keep playing these shows and all these artists keep showing up to play with us is awesome,” Bones said. “Miranda is playing with us this year, and so that’s super cool. We always find that one artist at first that goes, ‘Yep, I’m in.’ Then everybody else kind of jumps in, and Miranda said yes immediately. We’re so grateful.”
