The country music industry is stepping up to help as the Texas Hill Country continues to reel from devastating Fourth of July floods. Kerrville native Robert Earl Keen has scheduled a benefit concert for August, promising “a star-studded lineup.” Today (Friday, July 11), the “King of Country,” George Strait, has also announced plans to help with flooding relief efforts.

Riley Green, Hudson Westbrook, and More Join George Strait For Benefit Concert
Texas native George Strait will hold an “intimate donor and dinner concert” benefitting those affected by the Hill County floods on Sunday, July 27.
Multiple other big names, including Riley Green and Wade Bowen, will join the “Amarillo By Morning” crooner during the ‘Strait to the Heart’ benefit at Estancia at Thunder Valley indoor arena in Boerne, Texas.
Strait is teaming up with longtime business partner Tom Cusick to raise funds through their Vaqueros Del Mar charity.
“The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives,” said the best-selling country star.
He added, “The destruction and loss in our community from the recent floods is hard to wrap your head around. Our hearts and prayers are with you all.
Added Cusick, “The road ahead will be a long one, however, the immediate need is so great that we didn’t want to wait. Together, we can show our neighbors that when hardship strikes, Texas and our Country stand strong, and we stand together.”
Strait and Cusick will limit the event to 1,000 guests with tickets and tables starting at $1,000. Guests can donate to 501c3 Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund. which will then distribute the proceeds to affected families and established Hill Country funds.

Death Toll Still Climbing
George Strait joins a growing list of country stars, including Charles Wesley Godwin and Miranda Lambert, in pitching in to help flooding relief efforts in Texas.
Following torrential rains, the Guadalupe River in Central Texas broke its banks July 4, leading to catastrophic flash floods that have killed at least 120 people as of Thursday, July 10.
More than 160 people remained missing as of Friday afternoon.
