Gracie Abrams and Dora Jar Respond To Fan Petition To Replace Jar as Tour Opener

Apparently, there’s been a bit of drama in the Gracie Abrams fandom recently, and it involves her upcoming tour opener, Dora Jar.

Abrams recently announced that Jar would be opening for her upcoming tour dates throughout Europe this year. Jar, though certainly underrated, isn’t entirely obscure. She has supported big acts like The 1975 and Billie Eilish on multiple arena tours. She’s well-known for her unique brand of bedroom pop music. Her debut album No Way To Relax When You Are On Fire was released just last year.

Sadly, some of Abrams’ fans are not happy about the choice to bring Jar along on the tour. A fan, who posted under the (hopefully) fake name Dexter Morgan, launched a Change.org petition to have Jar removed from the tour and replaced with someone more “recognizable.”

The fan said they were planning on attending the February-through-March leg of the Secret Of Us Tour. They launched the petition because Jar’s songs are allegedly “too slow.”

“Many fans, including myself, are baffled by the recent announcement,” the petition reads. “We are perplexed as we do not recognize her, and with less than two weeks till the tour, it’s virtually impossible to familiarize ourselves with her slow-paced songs. For a memorable concert experience, an opening act should set the mood and get the crowd excited, but Dora’s slow tempo songs may not achieve this goal.”

Is Dora Jar Getting the Boot from Gracie Abrams’ Upcoming Tour?

Nope. Both the talented musicians have responded to the controversial petition, which appears to have been (finally) deleted.

“Don’t worry this doesn’t bum me out!” Jar responded, quite professionally and optimistically. “I’m hear [sic] to perform for all the music loving open hearted fans. Those who aren’t interested can go buy merch while I’m playing (but they might as well let me entertain them tho.)”

Just as well, Abrams herself caught wind of the rude petition and made a statement of her own on a Stereogum Instagram post about the debacle.

“Just hearing about this absolute ridiculousness,” said Abrams. “So wildly uncool and bizarre and also just does not remotely add up. I’ve only seen everyone’s total excitement and I couldn’t be luckier or prouder to share a stage with this talented wonder. Stream everything she’s ever made whether or not you’re coming to the show. Dora forever and ever.”

Gracie Abrams and Dora Jar will kick off their European tour in Madrid, Spain on February 8. The trek is slated to end on March 12 in Glasgow, Scotland.
