The Artist: Nashville singer-songwriter Jacob Thomas Jr.
The Song: A sweet cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way,” from Thomas’ stark, magnetic debut album Original Sin. The harmony is supplied by fellow roots artist Lily Costner.
Fun Fact: Thomas Jr. has been a bandleader for Southern Ground recording artist Sonia Leigh, and a member of Uncle Kracker’s band.
Liner Notes: Sometimes the story of a song weighs more than the arrangement. I’ve always loved the original arrangement of this song, but not as much as I love how fucking sad the lyrics are behind it. I guess I thought, “If I’m going to cover a song, why not cover the greatest pop song of all time, and let’s try it without the pop mask on it.” So that was the idea.
