Songwriter Says: “‘Where We Start’ is something of a cornerstone for Love And Hate,” Osborne explains. “It was finished early on, and helped me solidify my ideas about the territory the album would cover. It was also a benchmark for [producer] Jack [Petruzzelli] and I as we worked, because we liked it so much and wanted the other songs to be just as good, so it gave us something to strive for, and encouraged us when we doubted ourselves. The band is playing it so brilliantly, so fluidly. The string arrangement is beautiful. As a piece of music, I feel it really transports the listener to this lush, intimate world. And I think it conveys the beauty of that moment in a love story when you are first hit full force with the realization that ‘this is it’. . . your life with your beloved is beginning.”
