Here’s some disappointing news for fans looking forward to attending the 2024 edition of Joe Walsh’s annual VetsAid benefit concert. Walsh and the VetsAid organization announced the cancellation of the star-studded event. The concert had been scheduled for November 11 at UBS Arena in Elmont, New York.

The concert’s organizers cited “reasons beyond their control” for the event being canceled. Despite the fact that the show won’t be happening, VetsAid still will be distributing hundreds of thousands of dollars in grants to veterans charities that recently were chosen as beneficiaries for the funds.
“The wellbeing of our veterans and their families remains my foremost concern and the primary mission of VetsAid,” Walsh said in a statement. “While I am disappointed in the cancellation of this year’s event and apologize for any inconvenience to our fans, I am thrilled to share that VetsAid will provide $400,000 in grants to these fine organizations who will focus these funds on the ground in New York and New Jersey to veterans who have sacrificed so much and asked for so little in return.”
The eighth annual VetsAid concert was to have featured performances by Walsh, country star Eric Church, veteran rockers Toto, and recently inducted Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Kool & the Gang. In addition, multi-genre superstar Post Malone had been slated to join Walsh for a collaborative performance during the concert’s finale.
All ticket holders will be contacted by Ticketmaster with instructions on how to receive a refund.
More About VetsAid
Walsh launched the VetsAid benefit concert in 2017 to help raise money for various charities and organizations that support military veterans and their families. The shows have featured Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and longtime Eagles guitarist joined by various well-known music artists.
The VetsAid concert has held in a different location each year, and money raised is donated to local veterans charities. This year’s concert will raise money for organizations in New York and New Jersey. Since its inception, VetsAid has disbursed $3.5 million in funds.
Walsh is a “Gold Star Child”; that is, he lost a parent who was serving in the U.S. military. Joe’s father, Lt. Robert Newton Fidler, was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force who died in a plane crash in Okinawa, Japan, in 1949. Walsh was not yet 2 years old at the time.
Walsh’s Upcoming Tour Plans
Walsh has been joining the Eagles for their recently launched Las Vegas residency at the Sphere venue. The residency, which kicked off in October 2024, will feature four monthly concerts through a March, 15, 2025, performance.
Tickets for the Eagles’ residency shows are available now via a variety of outlets, including StubHub.
