Lainey Wilson Is 2024’s Most Played Female on Country Radio, Carrie Underwood and Ella Langley Headline the Top 10

Since stepping foot in the Grand Ole Opry at just nine years old, Lainey Wilson knew she wanted to be a singer. Although having a dream, the country singer spent years trying to break into the industry. Never losing her passion or drive, she eventually found her way to the stage and released songs like “Heart Like A Truck” and “Watermelon Moonshine.” While releasing new music, Wilson also gained a great deal of praise from the music industry as she won Country Music Association Awards, a Grammy, and even several Academy of Country Music Awards. And not remotely slowing down, she crossed another milestone on Country Radio.

Posting a picture on Instagram, Country Radio celebrated Wilson as they announced she was the most-played female artist on Country Radio in 2024. Releasing her fifth studio album, Whirlwind, back in August, the country singer continued to expand her grasp on the charts and airwaves.

Megan Moroney, Ashley Cooke, Carly Pearce, Dasha, Carrie Underwood, Gabby Barrett, Ella Langley, Kacey Musgraves, and Hailey Whitters made up the rest of the top 10 behind Wilson—in that order.

Lainey Wilson “Wanted To Tell Stories” With Her Music

While celebrating her success in country, Wilson never forgot the years she spent trying to capture the spotlight. She once admitted, “I had moments where I should have packed it up and went home. I should have went back to Louisiana, but I never had those feelings.” Wilson continued, “I think there’s something really beautiful about being naive, and since I was a little girl, I’ve always had stars in my eyes. I have always known that this is what I wanted to do.”

Although standing on top of country music, Wilson never faltered when it came to her gift. “I wanted to tell stories, I wanted to make people feel something, and I wanted to feel the way that music has made me feel. I feel like when you’re given a gift, you gotta share it, and even if I was still not breaking any ground at all, I would still be doing it.”

Outside of the music industry, Wilson appeared in the series finale of the hit show Yellowstone and even performed during the 2024 NFL Thanksgiving Halftime Show. And not wanting to steal the spotlight, she welcomed Jelly Roll to the stage to show what the future of country music might look like.
