Popular Rock Group Breaks Up, Frontman Cites “Revelations” Surrounding Bandmates’ Behavior

Forming in Nashville back in 2012, the pop rock band Coin gained a sizable following as they released albums like Dreamland, Rainbow Mixtape, and their latest I’m Not Afraid of Music Anymore. Hitting shelves back in September 2024, fans had no idea that it would mark their last album from Coin. The band underwent some turbulent times as members like Drummer Ryan Winnen and guitarist Joe Memmel were accused of misconduct. And while wanting to move past the allegations, frontman Chase Lawrence recently revealed Coin had disbanded.

With the news coming as a shock to fans, Lawrence decided to clear the air surrounding the end of Coin. Posting a lengthy explanation on Instagram, the singer wrote, “I have recently become aware of revelations around my bandmates and want to share some thoughts directly with all of you.” The singer continued, “I believe in accountability and doing what’s right. Three months ago, I made the decision to move forward without my drummer, and yesterday, I parted ways with my guitarist.”

Chase Lawrence Not Shying Away From His Values

Adding some insight into his decision, Lawrence added, “Their behaviors directly conflict with my values, and I am devastated for anyone who had been affected by these actions. Creating a space for love & joy through music has always been my mission. Discovering that this space has been compromised by the actions of others is truly heartbreaking. Unfortunately, these developments have led me to the decision that COIN can no longer continue as a band.”

With Lawrence heartbroken over the decision to end Coin, he used the message to apologize to fans. “To our listeners, I am sorry for the disappointment this may bring. Your support has meant the world to me, and I owe it to you to be honest and decisive in addressing this situation. There’s a lot to figure out about the future, but I know I’m not done making music yet. Thank you for everything.”

Looking at the comment, fans thanked Lawrence for his music and couldn’t wait to see what the future held for him. “Really sad I never got to see COIN in person. But Chase, your music has meant a ton to me over the years. I will absolutely be paying attention to whatever is next, wishing you the best.”
